Rhythm Nation was born in April 2019, offering classes here in Stonehaven, Inverbervie and Laurencekirk. We offer classes in Street Dance, Ballet and Lyrical, with opportunities to progress to competitive Street Dance and learn from international choreographers.

Classes are open to children aged 3+ years offering a specific class to you adults who love to dance and keep fit and healthy. All dancers take part in two shows a year where they showcase everything they have been working on throughout the year which is always a great success.

We love to show the kids how proud and lucky we are to be a part fo the community here by supporting as many local events we can, giving the children many opportunities to perform in return.

Rhythm Nation Dance - Teamwork Makes The Dreamwork

ACHIEVEMENTS

During our first year we have managed to achieve great things such as:

  • Qualified and Competed at the UDO World Street Dance Championships 2019.
  • Under 12 year old dance team reached the finals of the WORLDS and ranked Top 9 in their category against 24 other qualified teams across the world.
  • Principal teacher worked with Mackie Academy where I created and taught their students Nat 5 and Higher Dance, Hip Hop Exams, for free.
  • Supported all the local events such as The Feein’ Market, Christmas Lights Event.
  • Natasha and many of the parents of the dancers volunteered to help The Round Table carry out Bonfire Night and The Santa Sleigh.

During our second year we pushed through the pandemic as a TEAM and continued to achieve great things:

  • The first in the area to bring any sort of activity online via zoom on a weekly basis.
  • Brought international choreographers online to work with our competitive dancers,
  • Offered free sessions to the community as we knew finances started to become worrying for everyone.
  • Principal Teacher Natasha was awarded HIGHLY COMMENDED – High Street Hero Award and COMMUNITY SPIRIT Awards – Voluntary Action Aberdeenshire for her efforts in supporting young people in the community during the pandemic.
  • Filmed our first promotional video as shown on our home page.
  • Successfully ran a Covid Friendly Halloween themed Dance Camp, complete with virtual performance.
  • Filmed our first Concept Video – Highest in the Room, (find video on classes info page.
  • Filmed our whole Annual Dance Show that was due to take place in the summer. We created a DVD with 30 performances from all of our classes so family and friends can watch from the safety of their own home and our dancers still got the chance to SHINE.

Lastly, but most important. We are a friendly, inviting dance school. We promote support to our dancers and amongst one another. Nobody gets left behind or left out. Come and join us and experience what it’s like to, to be part of the Rhythm Nation.
